Important Updates from Pastor Mark

Dear CHBC Family and Friends,

Here is some information about Midweek services, the flood, and Resurrection Sunday.

  1. Tonight our Midweek services look very normal. AWANA, Student Worship, Adult Bible Study, Men’s Fraternity, and Choir is all meeting in their current-normal places and normal times. If you are an adult and are not serving our children or youth, then join us in Room 221 as we train on being Generational Influencers.
  2. Flood Update: Some sheetrock and insulation is going back up this week as things begin to progress. Negotiations continue with insurance, and while it is not as fast as we would all like, it is going smoothly, and we are thankful for the way we are being treated as a church.
  3. Resurrection Sunday: We had hoped that Oklahoma City would vote to have an early end to some of their COVID protocol mandates, which are currently scheduled to end on April 30. They postponed the vote two weeks, therefore we want to continue to be compliant with what the OKC City Council is asking businesses and places of worship to do. This was not our preference, but as pastors we believe we can be compliant, loving, and still have wonderful Resurrection services. How will we seat for worship on Resurrection Sunday?
  • The Worship Center will still be seated by every-other row. The Choir will remain seated in the Choir Loft to provide those extra seats in the Worship Center. We are also adding and adjusting seating to maximize the amount of seats available. Face coverings are optional.
  • The CHBC Student Ministry will watch live stream from Solomon’s Porch.
  • Overflow in the Activity Center will be available, and we will ask that people attending in the Activity Center wear a face-covering.
  • Overflow seating will be available in the Choir Suite as well. Face coverings are optional.

CHBC Weekly March 26, 2021

CHBC Worship for 3/28/21
The church is not a building people meet together in, but a people who gather to worship Jesus Christ as Lord.
The church is a people who have been saved by faith in Christ and are covenanted together to carry out the proclamation of the word of God, the participation in the church ordinances, and the practice of church discipline. The Church is the gathered people of God who hear the gospel, sing the gospel, and do the gospel. How do we do the gospel? We are baptized and we take the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the gospel on display of God’s initiative act of salvation. The Lord’s Supper is the gospel on display of believers continuing to trust in and depend on Christ’s death and resurrection to sustain their Christian lives. If you are not able to attend in person worship this week, please join us for our worship service by live stream through the CHBC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/chbcokc/. We are providing seating in the Activity Center for Sunday School and Worship services, and we are asking that any who attend in the Activity Center wear a face covering.
In the Worship Center we are continuing to seat by physically distancing (seating every other row and leaving a 3-chair gap between family units, as well as taking extra steps in cleaning and sanitizing. You are more than welcome to wear a face covering at all times.

Holy Week, Good Friday, and Resurrection Day
March 28, 2021, we honor the beginning of Holy Week as we think about the Lord’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. On Friday, we will have our Good Friday service at 6 PM, which will include singing and meditations on the crucifixion of Christ, and the taking of the Lord’ Supper. April 4, 2021 at 10 AM we will celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. Here is a link to a reading plan for you during Holy Week: Palm Branches, Thorns, and an Empty Tomb.
